Jason M. asked a question to Stuart T.
I joined ReAssure, part of Phoenix Group, with nearly 30 years of team leadership already. Despite that, I've had plenty of opportunities to learn new skills since joining the Group. Alongside learning new systems, I've continued to develop my people and workflow management skills through a range of training courses, both self help and trainer-led. There's always more to learn and the company are keen to give you the time and resources to do this.
I've also had the opportunity to work alongside the Behavioural Science team who employ psychology methodology to help ensure any communication sent from the company is clearly understood by the customer. They do this using various surveying methods combined with quantitive and qualitative analysis to help guide how the letters, websites etc are designed. It's a fascinating area and one that is growing within business at the moment.
I have worked across three different areas since I joined the company, Investment Operations, Group Risk and Group Operations. Each of these roles was a first for me, so in each one I learned more about each of those business areas and how they operate. Investment Operations gave me a better understanding of investment funds, and how they operate. Group Risk gave me more of an understanding of risk and the regulatory climate, including a top-down view of the business where I had visibility of regulatory impacts across the business. While my time in Group Operations has given me more of an understanding of governance and reporting. All three roles require excellent stakeholder management and organisational skills, and the ability to be flexible and juggle multiple priorities. I have definitely developed in those areas while working here.
