Edinburgh office with a great view of the castle. Most roles are Hybrid too. Great travel links to Edinburgh if staying centrally
Afternoon Samantha. I am based in Edinburgh.
I'll be in Falkirk. Not too far at all. Currently I work for the executive branch of Homeserve USA, handling executive level customer escalations. They call it office of the president because I work for the president of the company. I also take part in quality control and process and procedure as well as mentoring. What roles do you have that are similar?
Hi Samantha, thanks for your question, this role could be of interest to you - Customer Oversight Analyst - Phoenix Group Careers (oraclecloud.com). You'll be able to see all the details on our careers website www.thephoenixgroup.com/careers
Thank you!
Hi Samantha, there's a variety of roles that may pop up from time to time that may be similar to your experience with customer service. This could be roles involving oversight of complaints/incidents or overseeing our the quality of our outsourced providers. The role Dalvir has posted is a great example that has just gone up in the past hour!
HI Samantha, there are so many roles within the company and lots of opportunities to try something new. Training is given and supported in all roles. I agree with Dalvir, the best place to look is on our careers website.
Also good transport options for Falkirk to Edinburgh. Most roles are hybrid too so you can wfh some days of the week.
That's very exciting! I like to contribute to the betterment of the team and I like making a difference in my customer's and teammates lives.
I will definitely check the site out and apply. It's good to know which role to look for. I find every company has it's of titles and hierarchy.
Sorry, can you give me an example of your favourite part of company culture?
For me its the people, everyone is very welcoming, there is lots of support and cross colloboration across teams.
All roles will tell you location, salary and number of days in the office etc
add me on Linkedin too Matthew Ferguson | LinkedIn
Matthew, how long have you been within the company?
I will, thank you
15 months for me.
I agree with Matthew it is the people who make the company what it is today. I have been with the company formally as a Standard Life employee for 30 years.
Alexis, what types of roles and experience do you have?
I started as a pensions customer service representative, then working in the Finance dept. I then moved over the Standard Life Bank when it launched mortgages (this was then sold over to Barclays). At this point I became a business analyst and have just move around after being promoted to Lead Business Analyst. I enjoy my role as you move project to project so you feel like you are starting all over again but with the added benefit of having lots of contacts to reach out to.
It's good to see that new employees are so positive and that tenured employees are still enthusiastic after 30 years.
Absolutely agree with Matthew and Alexis on the people making the company! For me, its also the opportunities available. the company is passionate about developing our employees and really promote permanent or temporary internal moves, learning, volunteering and even spending a short period in another team for extra exposure/experience.
Yes, it's quite welcoming to see people stay... glad you are enjoying Alexis.
Having new opportunities to learn and grow is important to me. I like to stay busy. I like to know the why and how of the way things work. I especially thrive in interdepartmental cooperation and collaboration.
Great benefits as well in terms of pension, life cover, private medical etc
Good point Matthew. I really like the message of acceptance but salary and benefits are important too!
Samantha you will get lots of opportunities to collaborate in this company. Team work is a must for success and the flexibility to work how you like to work is also good. I work a 32hr week over 4 days, but there are other people who choose to do their 35hr week over 4 days. Lots of opportunities to work part time too.
I currently work 100% remotely but I wouldn't mind getting out of the house there. Here, it's like living on the sun. It's so humid here and I'm not built for heat.
Make the most of your heat as bonnie Scotland you can have 4 seasons in 1 day.
you won't have a heat problem in Scotland :0)
I adore Scotland. The people and the beauty and history.
If you join the company you may be lucky to get to see the Castle from your desk in the office our flagship Edinburgh office has an amazing view from floors 5 and 6.
and that's just the meeting rooms/conference suites let alone desks
Americans are a bit too into guns for my taste. I've actually not been to Edinburgh but once. We toured the medical museum.
I stayed in East Kilbride during lockdown, and my fiance lives in Falkirk
What kind of community projects have you been involved in, or had opportunities to participate in through the group?
We get 3 days paid leave to volunteer for local organisations, either as a team or individually. We are currently supporting the Race for Life for Cancer and there are opportunities to help at the event. In the past I have know people to help at Golf Tournaments that we have sponsored too.
What kind of pension plans and investments are part of the benefits package?
we are part of the Standard Life Master Trust. There is a 10% non contributory contribution and an up to 2% matched. We also have sharesave and a Sip plan too.
We have a great package for our pension where we contribute monthly and the company matches up to a certain point. We also have the opportunity to purchase shares with various options.
