I would say it's a combination of three factors: 1) actuarial work (understanding, assessing, quantifying and managing risk, particularly in relation to mortality/morbidity and financial markets) is at the very heart of what we do as a company - actuaries really understand how the company works; 2) the variety of work and roles available to actuaries, not just in Actuarial, and especially over the span of a career; and 3) the challenge of solving real life business problems.
