I'm very lucky in that I think I work in the best team. But seriously its really seeing the development of both existing and new starters in the team. We allow time each week for personal development and everyone is encouraged to take it. This leads to motivated staff who are keen to do the best for both the team and themselves. We also have regular 1-2-1 conversations that mean we are both clear on how the person is performing and if they have any concerns so I can support as necessary. The open culture really helps with these conversations.
Whilst flexible working is encouraged, we do make sure we catch up in the office on a regular basis which allows for those conversations that might not be work related but are essential to understand how someone is doing.
