Shehu S. asked a question to Rachel R.
I'm interested in a Snr Accountant role but don't want to be seen as overqualified, being a CFO already. I love your quote " Don't be afraid to move sideways." I am a Fellow of ACCA and qualified in Birmingham, with over 10 years post experience. What is the best way to approach this issue?
Hi and a great question. Here we use the adverts on our career pages to outline the experience and skillset that we need for an individual to be a success in the role, as well as to outline more about the role itself so that people can make their own judgments about their suitability for a position. I would say that you always need to be mindful that we have a strict salary range and budget in place for any role based on the market range of the skills we are looking for and so again where we can advertise this we do so, or will share that with candidates further in the process so again they can make an informed decision about whether that's the right role for them.
If you are applying for a role that perhaps you are over or under qualified for or for example is not at your current location, you have the opportunity to submit a covering letter with your application and can provide more detail around this at the application stage so that the Talent Acquisition team can understand more when screening applications.
Finally you can also register for job alerts and so any that meet your criteria you will be informed about once advertised so you won't miss out or feel you have to apply for a role that perhaps isn't quite right.
