The most challenging aspect of my role is managing competing priorities. I personally find having to adjust my efforts and focus on a regular basis to be quite challenging, there can be a high volume of requests which can differ significantly in both effort outlay required and importance (which differs depending on which person or department it is coming from). As someone with a considerable amount of experience in this role now, it is something I am able to manage mostly autonomously. However, there are times where I need to take a step back and discuss things with my senior colleagues to put things into perspective. This company is a complex business in a complex industry...but it also has an abundance of highly intelligent, experienced and well meaning managers that will try to support you at times of difficulty or challenge.
